India's relationship with ASEAN is a key pillar of our foreign policy and the foundation of our Act East Policy. The up-gradation of the relationship into a Strategic Partnership in 2012 was a natural progression to the ground covered since India became a Sectoral Partner of the ASEAN in 1992, Dialogue Partner in 1996 and Summit Level Partner in 2002. There are, in total, 30 Dialogue Mechanisms between India and ASEAN, cutting across various sectors.

25th Anniversary of ASEAN-India Dialogue Relations: India and ASEAN are observing 25 years of their Dialogue Partnership, 15 years of Summit Level interaction and 5 years of Strategic Partnership throughout 2017 by undertaking a wide range of activities, both in India and through our Missions in ASEAN Member States, which would culminate in a Commemorative Summit on the theme "Shared Values, Common Destiny.” (Source: http://mea.gov.in/aseanindia/20-years.html)

During 13th ASEAN-India Summit, Hon'ble Prime Minister of India, Mr Narendra Modi stated on 21st Nov 2015 “We also propose to commit a Line of Credit of 1 billion US dollars to promote projects that support physical and digital connectivity between India and ASEAN.” Again Hon'ble Prime Minister, Mr Narendra Modi during the 14th ASEAN-India Summit and the 11th East Asia Summit held in Laos PDR on 8 September 2016 reiterated Indian Credit line commitments stated "Seamless digital connectivity between India and South East Asia is a shared objective. India committed to Master Plan on ASEAN Connectivity."

TEPC is working rigorously to en-cash the opportunity of credit line and strengthen India ASEAN relation. LOC requests has already been received from LAOS. Vietnam has asked for LOC Guidelines from India and they are actively working on LOC Projects. India-Asean, Philippines and Malaysia also sent some requests on LOC but are coming from Island / State administrations and have been informed by TEPC on the correct procedures to be followed.

Telecom Equipment & Services Export Promotion Council (TEPC) had also organized “India Telecom 2018: An Exclusive International Business Expo” 22-23 February 2018 at New Delhi at Hotel Shangri-La's Eros in New Delhi, India under Market Access Initiative Scheme (MAI) of Department of Commerce, Government of India. 22nd February 2018 was focused on ASEAN region and 23rd February 2018 was for all regions including ASEAN. This event signified the expanding and deepening of the Digital Connectivity Dialogue Partnership.

“One World, One Platform: Let’s talk about Technologies that Transforms”

“The vision of a knowledge based society is built on an edifice where IT and Telecommunications merge. Rapid technological convergence has already established a symbiotic relationship between the development strategies of IT and telecommunications. IT flourishes on the telecom-network and in turn permits modern day telecommunications to use sophisticated IT-software."
In view of the above – a two-day conference and exhibition is being organized by TEPC, with NASSCOM as its co-organizer, at Vietnam. The India Asean ICT Expo 2018 (IT and Telecom show) is a platform for convergence of technology and business exchange.
The India Asean ICT Expo – with conference, exhibition pavilions, business meetings and strategies aims to promote eco-systems of Digital Transformation, and forever change the way of seeing things and doing business.
